| Bremen student team wins ESA challenge (10/30/2008)

Students from Bremen University came first in the European "ESA Lunar Robotics Challenge".
The task set was to built a small robot able to climb to the rim of a lunar-like crater and descend into it. The robot had to locate and retrieve at least 100g of soil samples. At the competition meeting from October 20th to October 27th, 2008, on Teneriffa, the Bremen student team presented their robot "CESAR". CESAR proved most efficient in completing all the tasks. Other participating universities were the Jacobs University Bremen, Germany, the Universidad Politecnica de Madrid, Spain, the Oulun Yliopisto (University of Oulu), Finland, the Università di Pisa, Italy, the Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna Pisa, Italy, the Surrey Space Centre, University of Surrey, United Kingdom, and the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (Eidgenössische Technische Hochschule - ETH) Zurich, Switzerland.
